A major civil engineering contractor are recruiting a Construction Manager to manage a portfolio of projects in the Thames Valley region. The business are a multi-discipline contractor delivering projects across the country up to £40m in highways, water, aviation and building health and education facilities.
The role will compromise of managing a collection of water based civil engineering projects for Thames Water, typically up to 15 live projects at any one time ranging from £250k to £2 million. The overall framework will turn over circa £40m per annum for the next 5 years'.
Ideally you have a technical engineering background and experience in the water industry (Thames Water is favourable), working with NEC contracts and the drive to manage an operations team and deliver a framework to the highest standard.
Duties will include:
Ensure that projects under your control align with the business requirements in terms of the companies health and safety, quality, and environmental practices.
Work closely with the other members of the Framework Leadership Team, the client and the supply chain
Deliver a strong culture of competent cost management, including the adoption of appropriate practices and procedures to manage operational expenditure effectively.
Support the development and performance of staff under your control, attending site regularly and providing leadership for project teams.
Contribute to the development of new and existing customer relationships.
Attend client pre start and progress meetings, providing senior representation and taking responsibility for the resolution of any large scale issues requiring senior support.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership, be technically sound with strong commercial acumen and have excellent communication skills.
