The Company

A well-established and prestigious main contractor, with roots in the industry for over 50 years. They have projects with values in excess of £40m, with a impressive secured order book leading in to 2022. They provide a full turnkey services on a variety of high profile schemes, including; Government Departments, Education and Healthcare.

The Role

As a highly experienced Design Manager, you will oversee the design process of numerous projects including residential, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Defence, located in the East Midlands. You will manage the construction design team and liaise with all aspects of the Project Management team. You will liaise with the wider project team to ensure that all works are completed on time, to the client's specification and on budget.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

For this role, it is essential that you are competent in the following;

Have suitable qualifications, standard requirements
Excellent written and verbal skills, excellent computer abilitiesalongside relevant software skills
Able to use a computer and the main software packages competently (e.g CDE, Asite CDE, MS Packages)
Design skills and knowledge (e.g BREEAM/Pavivhaus, Modern Methods of Construction and Net Carbon Zero, NEC, JCT D&B, CIAT, MICE or MCIOB)
Experience of Design position within either Resi, MOJ, MOD or if you have managed projects within these sectors on projects up to a value of £15m/ £20m will be consideredDuties

Leadership and motivational skills
Managing the technical drawings and plans used to build the structure
Identifying efficiencies, risk or opportunities, working with operations and pre-con teams
Liaise with all members of the development team, from consultants to the sub-contractors
Managing external figures in order to arrange, fee proposals, appointments and variations
Develop innovative design solutions to clients briefs with input from the professional design team and subcontractors
Bringing together architects, structural and service engineers, along with specialist designers and BIM technicians, to create coordinated designs which can be used during the build and aid maintenance of the structure once complete
Manage and liaise with Building Control, Principal Designer Consultant, Planning Consultant, Fire Consultant and other Specialist Advisor packages as required to ensure compliance of all output to Regulatory and project specification requirementsThe successful candidate will receive competitive salary plus benefits package.
