Revenue & Customs Digital Technology Services (RCDTS) are working alongside HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and embarking on an ambitious and challenging digital transformation programme which will result in HMRC becoming one of the most digitally advanced tax authorities in the world.
We’re removing our dependence on Data Centres, as we increasingly virtualise our estate. We’re fundamentally restructuring the way we look after our IT and the way we work with partners across our ecosystem. But it’s not just about the tech. You will be responsible for:
Understanding of the broad NPS service, its infrastructure, the supplier (Accenture) relationships and how your Batch Analyst role supports this.
The day-to-day NPS Batch operational support activities including batch monitoring, scheduling and execution of all batch jobs. This will be achieved utilising available workload scheduling tools and through comprehensive in-house training, mentoring and coaching.
Acting as first and second line support for problem resolution and escalations, ensuring that all problems are resolved within the appropriate service levels.
With guidance, build knowledge and experience over extended time period be able to demonstrate the behaviours required as an NPS Deputy Team Leader.
In addition, the candidate will display a professional attitude, attention to detail, security awareness and will be able to work to a schedule, ensuring that all deadlines are achieved without compromising quality.
Note: Security Clearance (Security Check (SC)) is a key requirement of the role and will be applied for on successful application.
Understanding how to facilitate Level 1 support initial diagnostic fault finding when encountering process failure and, if unsuccessful, escalate to NPS Team Leader or Deputy Team Leader level.
Analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
Collaborative team worker.
Ability and drive to identify, suggest and support service improvements as part of a Continual Improvement Environment approach.
Ideally you will also have knowledge and understanding of
A working knowledge of the following software packages would be advantageous: Unix, Linux, Tivoli WS maestro 8.5+, Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Service Central (ServiceNow) and SharePoint but all these skills can be acquired through corporate and in-house training.
Ability to adapt communications to the audience.
Providing coaching and support to colleagues.
Ability to work in high pressure environment and, with commensurate training, alone.
Flexible “can do” approach.
Identifying and sharing best practice.
Consistent approach to delivering a first-rate service.

This is a permanent full-time office-based role. The successful candidate will work a four-week rotating shift pattern:
Wk1 19:00 – 07:00 Mon/Tues - Fri/Sat/Sun – (night shift)
Wk2 19:00 – 07:00 Wed/Thurs (night shift)
Wk3 07:00 – 19:00 Mon/Tues - Fri/Sat/Sun – (day shift)
Wk4 07:00 – 19:00 Wed/Thurs (day shift)
This position attracts a shift allowance at 15%

HMRC’s Technology Sourcing Programme
HMRC faces a number of contract expiries combined with the need to re-balance control over its digital and technology capability to ensure HMRC can respond quickly and effectively to changing requirements and priorities.
This is a multi-year programme to transform how HMRC delivers and uses IT. The programme is in place to design and deliver the safe disaggregation, exit and transition of HMRC’s major IT contracts and stand-up new arrangements to deliver both IT run and change activity.
The programme will develop and implement a new technology supply chain model, protect live services, enable the department to remediate and prevent technical debt, reduce risk in our IT estate, improve cost effectiveness, provide flexibility and establish partnerships with suppliers to deliver innovation.
