Job Description

This position provides manufacturing leadership to develop and grow a world-class prototyping operation. Lead, motivate, and develop supervisors and employees to achieve manufacturing performance results while leveraging Continuous Improvement (Lean/TPM) tools, improving individual skills, and enhancing teamwork. Serve as the focal point in establishing development and prototyping strategies and responsible to achieve operational goals. Lead cross-functional working team meetings across engineering, supply chain, materials management and quality to ensure overall project success.



Key Accountabilities

Provide business and technical leadership necessary to ensure the prototype team meets and/or exceed key goals.

Oversee the process, develop and execute to a challenging schedule.

Create and promote an environment where all employees are encouraged to reach their full potential by providing employee coaching and development.

Obtain in-depth understanding of technical manufacturing processes and ensure that first-level supervisors are progressively developing technical expertise.

Ensure compliance with established procedures and process.

Guarantee that the prototype facilities and finished products meet the company standards of quality and safety.

Responsible for planning, budgeting and forecasting department resources including staffing, inventory, production equipment, maintenance and other production support items.

Manages departmental performance metrics and provides regular progress reports to Senior Leadership.



Education & Qualification

* Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or Management preferred.



Knowledge & Skill

* Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS products and MRP systems

* Exceptional project, planning and resource management skills

* Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization

* Strong problem-solving skills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

* Solid understanding of manufacturing and rapid manufacturing processes

* Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards

* Effective in making decisions under pressure

* Focused on results with the ability to work to deadlines

* Ability to form strong highly function teams

* Strong understanding of health and safety procedures



Experience

6+ years managing a either a prototype or production department

Demonstrated experience using Continuous Improvement tools (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma).

Strong leadership skills including the ability to implement change, influence business strategies, and resolve conflict.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills.

Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change.

Demonstrated understanding of technology, i.e., complexities of products, machinery, and costs.

Good analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.

Proven financial analysis and resource planning and allocation skills

Excellent written and open verbal communication skills

Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and knowledge of change control methods and processes

Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced team environment
