Fawkes & Reece South are working with an established and growing civil engineering contractor who are seeking a SHEQ Advisor. They work in collaboration with several private clients and local authorities on a variety of highway schemes along the M25 ranging from £50k to £500k. On this framework, they are a subcontractor and have been working with the client for several years.

Your role will be to conduct regular inspections to measure the Company's performance/compliance against the Business Management System and to promote best practice.

You will be involved in (but not limited to):

Working proactively with all employees, clients and supply chain to establish and maintain safe systems and places of work

Supporting and advising in the production of key documents e.g. risk assessments, construction phase plans, environmental management plans and works package plans

Carrying out regular site inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of the business management systems and procedures

Producing detailed reports to the SHEQ Managers and operational teams

Leading investigations of accidents, incidents, close calls and non-conformances

Providing support to the contracts manager to ensure all risks and environmental impacts are considered at the planning stage

Attending workshops, client forums and close call meetings

Liaising with client counterparts and representatives to ensure required standards are met and provide professional advice if required

Support drafting of Tool Box Talks and Safety Alerts

Ensuring that the company and those working with them comply with current health, safety and environmental legislation, industry and approved codes of practice

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

Experience working as a SHEQ Advisor for a contractor that works on civil engineering

Environmental Awareness Training

Investigation Training

Full Driving Licence

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK

Having attended Auditor Training or holding an IEMA Qualification are desirable but not essential
