Elevation Recruitment Group are partnered exclusively with a Global Manufacturing business who are entering an exciting period of growth and are looking for a Machine Shop Manager to drive the business forward. The Machining arm of the business has seen a huge increase in orders and are looking for a talented manager to upscale the business quickly.

The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for c60 people and would deal with all aspects of Manufacturing included (but not limited too) H&S, Quality, Production, Projects, Continuous Improvement, Labour, KPI Management. Whilst this role reports directly into the Operations Manager you will have full autonomy for the department.

Machine Shop Manager | Overall Purpose:

To control and improve all production processes within their department by managing people, time and resources to meet the business targets.

Key Responsibilities for this Machine Shop Manager include but are not limited to:

- The successful introduction of lean manufacturing principles throughout the business
- Supervise and develop Team Leaders by delegating, coaching and managing individuals
- The control, organisation and co-ordination of departments
- Review the production programme to determine manufacturing requirements in terms of manning, capacity and resources
- Ensure that all machines and equipment are maintained in a satisfactory condition to maintain product quality and improve the general environment
- Develop manning plans to achieve the Company's objectives
- Liaise with Engineering for samples and part development
- Achieve monthly output levels and daily run rates
- Review scrap, non-conformance products and quality problem areas and action to resolve
- Identify key performance monitors (KPIs) for each area on key outputs and display in the appropriate areas
- Introduce effective communication links with Departments
- Instigate disciplinary procedures where necessary
- Identify improvement opportunities and prioritise in order of importance
- Manage manufacturing improvement activities in an open, enthusiastic and positive manner, so as to encourage participation and development of a culture of continuous improvement at all levels
- Support and guide all CI projects using appropriate advanced quality/performance improvement tools
- Continually appraise global technological developments/advances such that they may be exploited to reduce manufacturing costs and improve process/product quality
- Ensure that Syteline runs smoothly in line with other departments, with the timely and accurate input and use of data
- Responsibility for data ownership, blue prints and the updating of quick reference guides

Machine Shop Manager General Responsibilities:

- Ensure the Company's quality policy is understood and implemented
- Ensure all Health & Safety rules are adhered to, be aware of fire exits and hazards in departments and maintain a safe environment
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Identify areas for cost reduction and productivity improvements
- Monitor and review subordinates for performance, training and future development
- Recommend new work methods, layouts, processes and equipment to improve performance
- Maintain good time keeping and attendance
- Teamwork - Show a positive attitude to work and others
- Display flexible attitude to work time as required
- Recognise and react to customer expectations

This Machine Shop Manager will have the following Skills and Experience:

- Degree Qualified or equivalent qualification within Engineering (HNC, HND etc)
- Experience working within a Machine Shop is essential
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing 35+ staff
- Experience in Forging, Metals or Machining would be advantageous
- Working knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques e.g Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen etc
- A strong analytic skill set with the ability to interpret data
- KPI driven
- A qualification within H&S e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH
