To support the high value manufacturing catapult’s work in line with the ‘skills value chain’, defining and creating the education and training programmes required to develop the future workforce.

The Role

The Future Skills Advisor role will be responsible for working with multi- stakeholders to research regional skill gaps and identify new or evolving roles of strategic importance in the high value manufacturing sector. They will convert their findings into ‘competency frameworks’ that clearly define the responsibilities, knowledge, skills and behaviour required across multiple emerging and future roles.

Duties and responsibilities include:
Liaising with key industry partners, such as awarding bodies to drive collaboration and approval.
Liaising with major high value manufacturers and MTC members, to drive collaboration and approval
Facilitating skills workshops with all the stakeholders and MTC research engineer
Articulating the output of workshops into competency frameworks that clearly define the current and future requirements of roles within the industry
Project Management of the assigned framework projects

The Person

The successful candidate for the role of Future Skills Advisor will have/be:
Highly articulate with excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels.
Working within their defined area and in collaboration with stakeholders, may on occasion need to reach agreement or manage communication in relation to specific situations
Comfortable facilitating large groups to meet agenda points and deliverables
Ability to produce detailed reports summarising the skills mapping approach, findings and using data to support recommended actions.
Strong experience of working in learning and development
Demonstrable experience in competency framework and instructional design
Ability to develop engineering role-based competency frameworks, detailing technical knowledge skill and behaviours ratified by industry
A robust understanding of stakeholder engagement
Fully competent in the use of MS applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel
