Teaching Assistant Role Information
A unique special needs school in the borough of Southwark on the Zone 1/2 border. They are looking for several Teaching Assistant staff to work with pupils who struggle with moderate autism and social and emotional needs. You will be working in a small class as part of a closely-knit team of 3/4-teaching assistants led by an inspiring, creative, positive, and highly supportive experienced SEN teacher.
You will be working with KS 2 students who all have a diagnosis of social and emotional functioning. You will be supporting students on their journey to improve their ability to self-regulate and manage their behaviour alongside their mental health difficulties. These students all have a diagnosis of autism and related social emotional and mental health issues. Many of these students have difficulties in communicating and relating to people. You will also need to support these students complete their work in time and build their confidence to understand that they can get their work complete in time, as these pupils takes longer to reach certain development milestone than other children their age.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant
The ideal candidate will have good SLD/ASD knowledge and some experience of PECS and Makaton. The key to the job is attitude and the school are very willing to train someone who shows passion and a willingness to get stuck in.
