Protea has the privilege of recruiting for our client, one of the world’s biggest processing companies, based in Southern Scotland for the role of Powder Production Manager (Deputy Powder Manager)

Job Purpose:

• To control the smooth and efficient running of the Powder department

• Responsible for ensuring all tasks are carried out within the allocated work area are done so in a manner to protect product safety, legality, quality in accordance with the Food Safety Management System which encompasses HACCP and the requirements of external certification standards and customer requirements

• Ensure all records/log sheets are completed

• Liaise the various departments to ensure smooth flow of raw material, Powder production and quality product, anticipating issues taking corrective action as appropriate.

• Attend and report to Quality meetings as required and ensure corrective action is taken for all non-conformances raised

• To achieve budget and maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the department

• To meet with internal and external auditors to describe the production process as necessary

• Manage employees (approx. 15) within the department including devising and managing rotas, completing part-time employee timesheets, managing overtime, formulating employee bonus criteria, record results.

• Ensure ongoing good department communications and conduct departmental team briefs as required.

• Ensure that team members are properly trained and have the appropriate knowledge, skills and equipment to carry out their tasks

• Assist the department manager to manage attendance, and performance in the department, conducting return to work interviews and where necessary taking appropriate action

* Experienced in managing people and coupled with a knowledge of good employment practices

* PC literate with good MS Office software skills essential, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.

* Previous experience in a Lean environment would be a distinct advantage. Self-starter with a positive can do attitude with a proven track record in problem-solving and analysis
