The Client
Our client is one of the largest Land and Engineering surveying companies in the British Isle. They are now an international multidisciplinary survey consultancy employing over 240 people. Their services cover all aspects of surveying, including Topographic Survey and Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM), 3D HD Laser Scanning, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Specialist Engineering Services, Utility Mapping, Property Services, Monitoring Solutions, Measured Building Surveys, and many more.
The Role
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for overseeing an assigned portfolio of our clients most strategic customers (typically on 3-6 Accounts simultaneously). Strengthening these key relationships is achieved by working closely with customers to understand their pain points and business goals and aligning our solutions via a clear value proposition. Communication of outcomes on Delivery Quality, Innovation and Consultancy to keep our ‘added value’ profile high in the consciousness of Account stakeholders is paramount for success.
This role is a national remit position, and their UK head office is in London. Post holders do not need to be daily commutable to the London office although at a practical level this may be advantageous given a large proportion of customer head offices are based in London.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the senior Management Team to validate Key Account status aligned to our ability to solve complex problems encompassing multiple departmental Geospatial techniques and solutions for customers invested in the Digital Transformation revolution.
* Understand our Value Proposition and articulate how our product-service offering via an increasingly consultative style of offer will support the customers own business objectives.
* Map Account organisations to identify and then network key stakeholders and influencers by maximising contact time and awareness.
* Oversee all commercial offers (for key accounts) and resulting contracts to ensure appropriate margin-risk positions, some pricing work but generally estimation and costing detail is undertaken by other subject matter experts (Geospatial Managers and Surveyors).
* Generate business proposals for customers to identify and justify a direct benefit to their business goals (cost reduction, quality improvement, risk reduction, time saved, data investment. Clearly communicate the USP/differentiation from the competition.
* Sponsor Key Account based Marketing programmes (managed by Marketing Manager).
* Ultimately the Strategic Account Manager will grow revenue and margin towards targets for each key account.
Requirements
* 5+ years relevant experience in customer facing roles from either Account Management, Consulting, Business Development or other Sales/Customer related B2B capacity.
* Experienced and comfortable communicating with senior people in client organisations.
* An exceptional communicator in English, both orally through presentations, and in writing.
* Confident and competent Company and Sales Proposal presenter, especially in face-to-face opportunities via Powerpoint etc.
* A results-driven mentality and tenaciousness for converting all opportunities for your key accounts
* Sufficiently numerate and analytical in order to construct sound commercial offers and articulate commercial benefits to customers.
* Works well on own initiative to identify and pursue self-generated opportunities.
