Software Development Engineer - Backend

Southampton, Hampshire, UK REMOTE / HYBRID working

£30-40k+ benefits

This is a new role that has been created within a small but growing start-up tech company near Southampton. The position would suit a backend software developer with a few years of solid software development experience that is interested in a broad and varied role in a start-up environment.

Required:

* A graduate degree or masters in a relevant subject (e.g., computer science, physics, software engineering)

* 1-3 years of backend software development experience (mix of industry employment, internships etc)

* Sound knowledge of Linux, Networking principles and Python

* Experience with AWS/ Cloud, SQL and C++ would also be useful

Although based in Southampton, remote or hybrid working is available.

The company is involved with the research, development and production of sophisticated remote sensing and condition monitoring systems for infrastructure, road, rail, and other applications. The sensors capture vast amounts of data which must be processed and presented.

This role will involve supporting the lead software engineer with the streaming, networking, and availability of data for the company’s products and customers. Also, you will be involved with the development of host dashboards.

Furthermore, candidates with DevOps experience and interest could be useful to support software QA, software automation and overall efficiency activities.
