Apply on Partner SiteFawkes & Reece South are working with an established principal civil engineering contractor who are seeking a Clerk of Works to look after the ecological aspects of their projects. They work on a range of infrastructure projects including highways and rail. Their projects are worth up to £5m on behalf of local authorities and private clients in the Southwest. Scope of works can also include footpaths, drainage and any other infrastructure.
Your role will be to provide advice on environmental and ecological areas during the construction phases of the project. Typical issues will include air quality, noise pollution, surface water, protected species management, material management. Your duties will include (but not limited to) :
Supervising contractors and ensuring compliance with environmental protection measures and license requirements for protected species
Liaising with other specialists and the Environmental Advisor to raise issues and providing solutions
Being the key point of contact for clients and other stakeholders
Ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and any associated documents i.e Construction Environment Management Plan (CEMP)
Monitoring sites and providing advice to the site teams regarding any ecological constraints
Continuously providing site checks for any notable and protected species regarding any ecological constraints and mitigation solutions
Managing your own time to ensure that work is delivered in timeRequirements including certificates and qualifications:
Experience working as a Clerk of Works on civil engineering projects
Degree or Diploma in Ecology or any other environmental discipline/related subjects
Good knowledge and experience of systems such as ISO 20400, ISO 14001, ISO 5001 & BS 8001
Have experience or understanding of ecological issues including de vegetation works, mitigation and protected species surveys
Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
Ecological or Environmental Clerk of Work membership would be advantageous
Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
