As part of our small team of Software Sales Engineers you'll become a subject-matter expert on Salesforce DevOps and on Gearset, providing support and advice to users as they review our product to embed into their teams. Working closely with our sales team, you'll run tailored product demos and guide technical discussions, confidently advising on everything from the intricacies of GIT-based development to configuring continuous integration pipelines. You'll demonstrate how Gearset solves user's challenges by building a deep understanding of their pains.

Working closely with our Account Executive team, you'll be seen as the subject-matter expert on Salesforce DevOps and Gearset, and you'll own the technical side of the client's evaluation with us. By combining technical expertise and commercial awareness, you'll maximise sales opportunities and help us drive the growth of the business forwards. Your close user contact will also feed into our product roadmap, and be the voice of users throughout the company.

You'll have the opportunity to travel to customer sites and industry events to present our products and speak with customers and prospects.

This is a highly consultative role, requiring you to build a deep understanding of our users, Gearset products, the Salesforce platform, and release management in general. We need someone who can discuss technical concepts in simple terms, deliver bespoke customer demos with strong levels of interactivity, and guide our prospects through their hands-on POC. Underpinning your work ethic will be a sound appreciation that first-rate customer experience is key to our success.

Ideal experience
Experience working as pre-sales engineer for another software company, or working in a problem-solving environment
Experience of leading technical discussions with prospective customers and partners
The ability to convey complex technical topics with simplicity
Strong ability to present virtually and in person
Working directly with the Salesforce platform, source control systems, and software development practices.
Direct experience working with other DevOps solutions on Salesforce or other platforms

Working at Gearset, you will
As one of the technical leads in the sales team, you will represent Gearset at multiple in-person industry events each year.
Own the technical side of full sales cycles, having a tangible impact on projects
Demonstrate Gearset products to customers and prospects, positioning us against competitors
Be a critical connection between the product team and the Sales team keeping the sales team updated on upcoming new features and why they matter to our customers
Help improve the technical and product knowledge of our sales team, coaching them on new developments within the Gearset product and the wider Salesforce ecosystem
Build tailored customer enablement/onboarding plans that speak to the needs of our users and demonstrate the value of Gearset.
Provide consultative advice to our prospects on best practices in DevOps and how to implement them with Gearset
Develop and update Gearset product demonstrations for each of our products
Influence product development by working closely with our product, marketing, and sales teams to collect and digest user feedback
Keep abreast of our competition, product development, and changes to the ecosystem

A little about our salary, hours and benefits
Salary: £45k - £60k base with a bonus of up to £12k depending on experience
You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday; based from our Cambridge office, but with the opportunity of flexible home working
Most of our customers are US based, so while you control your diary and work mostly UK hours, you'll be expected to make calls in the evening (up to 10pm) if that's when the customer is available
