BMSL are looking for experienced Mechanical Estimators.
Estimator required to join a leading MEICA specialist that focus primarily within the water treatment sector, working on a range of projects and frameworks throughout the UK.

Our Mechanical division was established in 2012 to supplement FSD’s existing Electrical capabilities to offer a complete pipework supply and installation service to the Water, Petrochemical and Process Industries.
The company requires an experienced Mechanical Tendering Engineer with a background working within the Water Utilities industry.
Job Description
Reporting to the Tendering Manager.
Produce tenders priced accurately to ensure the company remains competitive within the market.
Undertaking site visits where necessary to gain a better understanding of the work required.
Preparing accurate and timely cost and sales estimates for projects to consistent and competitive levels.
Preparing and submit offers to clients.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The candidate must take responsibility for all Mechanical related estimation works:
Playing a key role in submitting and managing bids.
Preparation revision and submission at all required stages through to award.
Creating a fully detailed tender based on a performance specification.
Responsible for gathering data required in preparing estimate.
Sending out enquiries and work closely with supply chain at tender stage to ensure correct and competitive prime costs. Producing any required schedules of materials as required.
To prepare technically compliant and competitive tenders.
To ensure tenders are completed within prescribed time parameters.
To obtain and evaluate, both commercially and technically, quotations for all subcontract / bought-in items.
To attend site as necessary to view the proposed works.
To liaise with customer to obtain all data required to provide a complete and compliant offer.
To produce a financial estimate for tenders using the Tender Approval Procedure sheet (TAP) and obtain required authorisations prior to submittal of tender.
Represent the company at post tender meetings with the client as required.
Attend project launch meeting and inform project team of all pre award data.
To produce for successful bids for completed tender take-offs and prepare a summary of material costs and labour hours/costs from the TAP for use in the evaluation of project performance.
To review and evaluate accuracy of bids against actual costs in liaison with the projects team for successful bids.
Query bid documentation as may be required to clear up any ambiguities, errors and omissions in tender prior to tender closing - Producing a list of RFI's and submit to the client.
Liaise with clients to ascertain the exact requirements for estimates and understanding budget constraints.
Reading and understanding the scope of works and specification.
Read drawings to scale and compiling detailed schedules and take-offs.
Identify scope of value engineering/value creation and identify tender risks.
Populate client's tender documentation.
Maintaining an up to date understanding of technical contractual and commercial developments (NEC3/4 and IChemE).
Communicate with clients to follow up of submitted tenders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Skills & Behaviours
Takes responsibility for production and submission of detailed electrical estimates.
Large diameter mechanical pipework (carbon steel and stainless steel)
Take off material lists from GA drawings
Interpretation of P&ID drawings.
Knowledge of mechanical equipment.
Knowledge of fabrication and installation works.
Water Industry experience.
Knowledge of various coatings.
Readily adapts to changing demands
Works well as part of a team
Present information in a convincing and informative manner
Financial awareness
Good IT skills
Highly organised with ability to multitask and work with tight deadlines to achieve objectives
Good communication skills
Supports and co-operates with others
Salary and Package negotiable depending on experience
