Commutable from Thurmaston, Leicester, Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas.

Job summary of the Laser Operator/Setter 

The Laser Setter Operator has primary responsibility for all maintenance, set-ups, and production runs, ensuring safety, accuracy and timeliness all of jobs, machines and equipment in the Laser.

Main duties of the Laser Operator/Setter 

Set-up, check, adjust and prepare laser cnc jobs. Set-up includes but is not limited to:
Set-up and adjustment of material.
Locate and upload proper program from machine control.
Ensure optimal laser cutting conditions.
Provide immediate feedback, to supervisor on jobs not meeting set-up and/or production standards.
Work with engineering and operations to ensure finished products are produced in the safest, effective manner,
while maintaining high quality control standards.
Loading and unloading of product to machine carefully and with attention to detail.
Responsible for properly packaging, identifying and moving all finished products to the proper location.
Ensure all equipment, and area, is properly set-up in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
Performs set-up inspections, first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required.

Monitor equipment and tool wear and request external maintenance when required.
Perform simple machine maintenance and repair as required.
Work with supervisor, Programmer, Engineer and engineering to make constant improvements in programs,
operating procedures and lean act

Other duties of the Laser Operator/Setter 

Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
Required to have proper and accurate entry into the data collection system.
Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.Ideal Laser Operator/Setter  will have :

At least 1-2 years of experience setting up and programming laser/punch machines.

Must have experience in setting up and adjusting laser and/or punch machines, along with maintaining laser optics.

Understand and select laser cutting gases and parameters for optimal cutting.

Position requires good mathematical ability and the ability to read and interpret drawings.
Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as Vernier’s
