Environment Officer

Are you an experienced Environment Officer looking for your next challenge? Do you want to be the Environmental subject matter expert within this team and be a key role in our plant integrity?

As the Environment Officer you will be reporting to the Team Manager and you will be responsible for ensuring site compliance with environmental and waste legislation and good practice, the management and improvement of site recycling, the introduction of environmental initiatives and the provision of environmental training.

This role will truly provide you with a challenge, development and exposure to different departments at our Power Station. This is a permanent role, based on site at our Power Station near[LS1]  Selby.

About the role

You’ll be supporting the maintenance of the Environmental Management System, including documentation production supporting the internal and external audit programmes including ensuring timely completion of resulting actions.

Attention to detail is key and you’ll be preparing minor technical variations and supporting more significant variations of the Environmental permits or consents.

Within this role, you’ll be the person who collects and analyses data for tracking waste, emission and water discharges to support the production of statutory returns. This is then returned to the regulator as required by permits and consents.

You’ll take responsibility for the implementation of environmental / waste controls and support other environmental and waste initiatives providing technical advice in relation to treatment technologies, markets and end of waste applications.

You’ll also prepare, and roll-out of environmental training packages for Drax staff, liaising with external contractors as necessary.

About you

Essentially, you’ll have knowledge and experience of working within large complex installations preferably involving medium / large combustion activities including continuous emissions monitoring and associated regulatory requirements.

You’ll demonstrate your experience within managing abstraction and discharge activities, including water and effluent treatment and monitoring systems.

Its key that you have an understanding of the regulatory and policy developments in sustainable water resource management.

Ideally, you’ll have experience within management of fugitive emission specifically noise, dust, leaks and spills.

You’ll demonstrate your ability to ensuring accurate and timely compliance reporting is undertaken across multiple permits and Licenses.

As mentioned, your keen eye for detail is essential and you’ll have experience of development and auditing of environmental systems and practices for Drax’s environmental management processes supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

We want you to mentor, guide and inspire our teams with their knowledge training and development of our Environmental purpose on site in Selby. You’ll be confident in delivering key information to a wide group of stakeholders as well as create and deliver training on these subjects
