Based on the outskirts of Worle, Weston-Super-Mare

The Job:
The IT Manager’s responsibilities include delivery of ongoing IT systems; overseeing change in the form of numerous code release cycles, managing both internal and external IT teams and ensuring adequate operational monitoring and controls are in place to ensure continued IT operational running.

As an experienced IT professional, the Manager will also be expected to contribute to the evolution of the IT strategy, highlighting new approaches, tools and techniques for the betterment of the IT function.

The IT team is made up of  2 direct reports with a local team of 10 budding developers and testers, with a further 7 working in an offshore partner in Romania and 8 developers about to be added from our clients global Centre of Excellence in India.

Key responsibilities:

Resource management of internal developers, testers and release managers.
Resource management of external offshore development teams.
Resource management of nearshore development teams.
Oversight of the release cycles via the release manager and head of development who will both report to you, ensuring that adequate requirements are gathered and then delivered against.
Oversight of the IT test teams to ensure IT delivers to quality and timescales and that internal / nearshore staff development is in place.
Oversight of the IT operations to ensure adequate controls are in place to ensure smooth running and adequate processes are in place when systems fail.
Contributing in workshops to evolve coding standards and IT strategy.
Providing a steer on development design decisions to meet both architectural and client needs.
Acting as main escalation point/liaison to external teams on critical IT issues
Great communicator – able to express ideas clearly
Empathic – able to pre-empt objections and understand personnel’s concerns

Knowledge / experience required:

Extensive knowledge of IT architecture and the sources required to keep this knowledge up to date
Strong communication skills so that standards and design principles are communicated clearly to the developer teams.
Strong person-management skills to ensure staff are motivated, productive and happy.
Ability to match client and strategic requirements to solutions.
Some exposure to C# and broad appreciation of other languages.
Some exposure to RAD.
Strong knowledge of web development concepts – client/server models and technologies.

The Salary: £50 - £80,000 DOE + Benefits
Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home
Location: Outskirts or Worle, Weston-Super-Mare
The Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
