Job description:
Following a restructure, our client have a newly created vacancy for the role of Transport Manager. The successful candidate will report into the Head of Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the Transport Team and a mixed fleet of 10 vehicles, with the Transport Team Leader and the Senior Transport Co-Ordinator as direct reports. The purpose of the role is to effectively manage the transport activities , ensuring that health and safety, productivity, budgetary, legislative and customer requirements are met in an efficient and effective manner.
Key Accountabilities:
* Managing transport budgets and make savings where possible whilst being considerate to the environment
* Manage team development to maximise their contribution to success
* Continue to maintain compliance with and strive to improve the site FORS accreditation standard
* Manage vehicle maintenance contracts to ensure value and logistics service standards
* Collaborate with the sales team and mine management to provide accurate asset transfer, costs and uplift solutions
* Manage the planning of routes in a cost effective manner taking into account environmental impact
* Liaise with third parties for cost effective delivery as required
* Compliance with all Health and Safety standards
* Review and improve Transport department KPI’s and business targets
What you will need:
* Management of teams and budgets within a transport environment
* Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills
* Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
* Be the appointed responsible person for the Goods Vehicle Operators Licence
* Must hold a current Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) at either National or International level
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
* Customer focused with a problem solving mindset
* Degree qualified, or equivalent business experience
* Position will be subject to the applicant passing appropriate external vetting
