We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome Personalised Services Team as a Support Worker. We support our brilliant customers who require support around their Mental health, to maintain their independence and help them achieve their goals and aspirations. Support is funded through personalised budgets, Direct payments, Local Authority funding and self-funding.
Our customers live throughout County Durham and support is delivered within their homes and in community-based settings, on a 1-1 basis.
We help our customers to do the things they need or want to do to improve their overall quality of life. These may be going to the cinema, shopping, attending appointments, events, local groups, activities and meeting new people.

As our Support Worker, you’ll be passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.
You’ll have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.
We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers.
We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!

As this is a community-based job, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!
If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you if you need help.
When you join as a Support Worker, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
We offer a flexible working pattern although at times we will need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers.
The service working hours are generally 9am -5pm, Monday to Friday.
About our team
You’ll work alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.
Our manager Edd has worked for Home Group and the service for over 11 years, so is perfectly placed to support you as you join. There are 5 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!
We have Sally, our support coordinator who has worked for Home Group for 3 years and loves nothing more than supporting our customers to achieve their goals and help them enjoy new activities / events. We also have Lisa our support worker who has worked for our services for over a year and is really caring and attentive to our customers as well as fellow colleagues.
There’s also a further team of 20 who make up our Health patch services.
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
