A reputable and award-winning manufacturer of special purpose machinery is seeking to hire a Technical Support / Services Engineer as part of its growth plans. Nicholas Associates Professional is conducting the recruitment on behalf of this manufacturer, which has recently increased its investment in R&D, production resources, and product development.
The role is a blend of Home, Office and Site based – the manufacturing operation being based in Shropshire.
The role of technical support is to cover the entire globe, and while most support issues will be handled over the phone, there will be times when installation, training, and commissioning will require a visit outside of the UK. These trips may require a week away from home. Because of the success of working remotely during Covid, it is difficult to estimate the number of times away. It is estimates that the first 40-50% of the time will be spent on the road in the UK, Ireland, or Europe, as gaining experience will necessitate on-site visits. This could be reduced after training.
Provide complete Engineering and Technical support on range of machinery.
Perform commissioning activities on a variety of special purpose machinery in the UK and, if necessary, abroad, in accordance with company procedures.
On a rotating basis, provide helpdesk support to the national and international distributor and dealer network.
Analyse and report on operational & functional issues on all products and services
Maintain accurate documentation and reports during and after site visits

Ideally you will be a time-served engineer holding a formal qualification (C&G, HNC, HND, BEng, MEng etc.)
Must be a multi-skilled engineer, able to carry out both Mechanical & Electrical installation, service, repair, maintenance and commissioning activities.
Experience with automation, including PLC troubleshooting experience - editing and modification of programs (e.g., Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley etc.)
Basic assembly and repair skills are essential mechanical abilities.
Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence and Valid Passport
Willingness to frequently travel within the United Kingdom and abroad.
Excellent customer service skills.

£37,000 to £40,000 Basic Salary, depending on experience
On-call rota, a £100 a week rate is given.
Overtime paid at at 1.5 or 2.0 x basic rate for weekend/bank holidays as standard.
