Assistant Accountant (Debtor Controller/Income Analyst)

Location: Hampstead, North London
Salary: £30k + depending on experience
Job Type: Full time, permanent, hybrid working

About you:
This role requires a highly organised person who has years of account receivable experience and can perform income reconciliation and reporting confidently. The role will primarily provide first hand support to the Head of Finance with month-end customer analysis and income reconciliation, as well as providing support for the whole finance team to aid overall accounting process and planning.

About the role:
As part of a small but supportive team, the successful Assistant Accountant will have a range of responsibilities across accounts receivable and income reconciliation analysis. This will involve calculating invoices, reconciling bank accounts, preparing income return, communicating with clients and performing aged debtor reviews.

Assistant Accountant responsibilities to include:

* Ensuring bank receipts are processed, checked, recorded and reconciled throughout the week

* Weekly investigations of any issues/discrepancies with our cash processing partners

* Ensure invoices are raised, sent and recorded throughout the month

* Reconciling bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis

* To provide support for month-end accounting

* Keeping up to date with developments across the business

* To work with other teams and communicate to the Head of Finance any potential impact

* Assist with other ad-hoc requirements and projects

Essential skills and experience;

* 5+ years experience as a Assistant Accountant or related role, ideally for a medium-large sized business

* Advanced level in Excel (Pivot table, Sorting, Filtering, Deduplication, VLookup, Match, SumIf, Sumifs, Sumproduct, etc)

* Ability to manage stress and prioritise a busy workload and to remain calm under pressure

* Business fluency in written and verbal English

* Good telephone manner

* Diligence and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment

* Performance driven and results orientated

* Confident and proactive in communicating with people at all levels and working as part of the team

Desirable Skills / Experience;

* Previous experience in SAGE (50/200) is a must. Docusign/Salesforce/FinancialForce experience is also desirable.

* Familiar with FCA rules and adhering to Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants
