Systems Engineer

Maldon, Essex

Mon – Friday Days

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Based in Maldon, Essex our client is a plant hire business and specialist manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cell powered mobile lighting towers and power generation systems which are used in a variety of settings.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of system development and integration for our battery and fuel cell power systems. You will work through all aspects of the development cycle from requirements capture and management, to testing and validation of the physical equipment to ensure requirements are met. This is a hands-on and varied role, with the opportunity to influence a product development throughout its lifecycle.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Work with internal and external stakeholders to define and manage the product, system, and subsystem requirements.

* Develop design solutions for control system, mechanical and electrical requirements, and issues as they arise.

* Use a systems engineering approach to problem solving, ensuring all factors are considered when implementing a solution or design to ensure the optimum outcome for the product and business.

* Create test plans and lead on testing, verification, and validation of the equipment.

* Participate in engineering design reviews and product development gate reviews.

* Supporting testing and development activities.

* Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment you are working on.

* Support the development of Standard Operating procedures and Work Instructions for build and maintenance activities

* Support wider business activities as required, where your experience can help

* Work in conjunction with Company SOP’s and risk assessments to ensure all tasks are undertaken with safety as the number one priority.

Person Specification

Essential:

* You have demonstrable experience in equipment development and Systems Integration.

* You have experience of working in a development environment with cross functional teams.

* You have experience of working through the entire development lifecycle on one or more products

* You have excellent written and oral communication skills.

* You have a high level of interpersonal skill and can work effectively with others.

* You are an efficient, organised person – not afraid to ask for a steer in a situation, but also able to suggest what you think should be done.

* Experience of control system design and development (Electrical/electronic control strategies and datalinks)

Preferable:

* You have experience of working within a structured business process framework and quality assurance systems.

* Knowledge of Regs and Standards relating to fuel cell and battery system development.

* Experience of structured problem solving (e.g. 8D)

* You have an interest in renewable energy, sustainability and making the world a better place.

* 3+ years of Systems Engineering work in a related industry
