Role purpose
The Fleet Manager is responsible for managing the fleet of cars and vans owned, leased and rented by the Group. Responsibilities include sourcing and procuring new vehicles, disposal of vehicles, ensuring high service levels are maintained across the business and running the department in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Key Activities
 Maintaining the fleet budget and ensuring best value is maintained with a focus on improving cost efficiency
 Ensuring that the fleet is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations
 Develop a procurement strategy for the group in respect of purchasing/ renting/ leasing cars and vans. Sourcing vehicles in accordance with the policy.
 Ensuring all driver queries are dealt with quickly and effectively.
 Ensure trackers are fitted to all vehicles across the fleet, and monitor fleet utilisation using telematic data providing effective and useful reporting to the regional management team
 Manage interface with our insurance provider. Ensuing claims are managed effectively and losses are minimised.
 Providing appropriate service response in accordance with business KPI’s. Includes management of own engineers and our supply chain. Managing vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime.
 Forecasting ongoing demand for cars and vans
 Driving innovation in the supply chain
 Negotiating contracts and service agreements with suppliers
 Researching options to source best value vehicles
 Researching opportunities to introduce “greener “vehicles across the fleet.
 Forecasting price trends and predicting how they will affect the group
 Running tenders and evaluating bids before making commercially relevant recommendations
 Creating and maintaining positive relationships with current and new suppliers
 Ensuring procurement sources are secure and sustainable
 Arranging replacement and disposal of damaged and older vehicles
 Assisting with drafting and implementing of effective policy regarding fleet operations
 Managing accurate and detailed records of vehicle inspections and services.
 Ensure on/off hire process is managed effectively and damages / losses are recovered
 Management of fuel cards. Develop processes to ensure accurate records are maintained.

Person Specification
 Preferably holding fleet management qualifications
* Extensive knowledge developed working in a fleet management role
* Evidence of commercial and financial awareness
* Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively
* Ability to make important decisions in a pressurised environment
* Proven project management skills
