The role is responsible for developing and delivering the charity’s PR plan, helping to raise the profile of Sense and increase understanding of the issues facing people with complex disabilities, securing high-profile media coverage in line with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing two PR Officers, and the role sits within the ‘Media & Campaigns’, working alongside a Stories Lead and Campaigns team. Part of the Engagement department, the team works closely with colleagues in Digital Engagement, Policy & Research, Brand & Content and Fundraising. The PR function is responsible for overseeing the press office, securing proactive press features, responding to media opportunities, monitoring and evaluating coverage, celebrity outreach and handling press response in relation to Reputation Risk issues. Led by the PR Manager, the team support the PR needs of business functions across the organisation, including Sense International, with a strategic focus on delivering coverage for high priority projects and campaigns.
Key skills and experience:
* Able to demonstrate a high level of communication knowledge appropriate to the modern environment
* 4 years + experience in PR or communications
* Experience of developing collaborative working relationships between internal and external stakeholders
* A high level of communication skills, with the ability to understand and communicate complex information in an understandable and accessible format.
