One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for an Employment Opportunities Co-Ordinator. This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

* To ensure that employers are actively engaged in the local employment and skills agenda, securing, and connecting a broad range of good quality employment and skills opportunities with local residents, including key local target groups.

* To collaborate with partners that support caseloads of residents looking for new opportunities and help residents access a range of employment opportunities available.

* In response to consultation with employers, shape, influence and develop appropriate training, skills, and employment support (delivered directly, by partner agencies or commissioned) ensuring that Kensington and Chelsea residents are better placed to meet employers’ labour market needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

* To engage local employers and discuss how their opportunities can support local employment efforts and a number of specific needs.

* To confirm details of opportunities for residents, including pathways (where regular recruitment takes place, e.g. a major retailer) and to brief and share these opportunities with organisations that help support and prepare individual job seekers. For apprenticeships, the role will work closely with the Apprenticeship Co-ordinator.

* To broker employment opportunities with individual candidates provided by organisations that help support and prepare individual job seekers, and local businesses with vacancies.

* To promote good employment practice through encouraging commitments to sign up to initiatives such as Disability Confident, London Living Wage, flexible working, diversity in the workplace, etc.

* To work with the employer to establish suitable selection and appointment methods (recognising that standard interviews may not always be appropriate, so encouraging work trials, or experience options).

* Create opportunities for specific target groups of residents (job carving) and seek to increase employment in under-represented groups.

* To bring the employer’s recruitment efforts closer to the communities in the borough. For example, by encouraging interviews to be held in the community, or by linking the employer up with opportunities to attend careers events and fairs within the local community.

* To work with the Cadogan team, connecting with their occupiers and offering job brokering recruitment services, supporting them fill vacancies through connection with partner organisations with community caseloads.

* To work closely with other staff and organisations based in the borough that engage with employers (including Morley College, DWP, Work and Health Programme provider, RBKC Opportunities Network members).
