Telent are now looking for a Town Planner, based out of Harlequin Group's Livingston office, Scotland. This Town Planner opportunity will see you work as part of the Planning team, taking a pivotal role in ensuring planning applications and processes, policies, codes and practices are being adhered to, before and after the design and build of critical Mobile and Telecommunications equipment on site, which include Towers, Telephone masts and so on. This is an Agile working role, which will see you predominantly working from the Livingston office, with a potential to review this way of working further into the role.

Town Planner - What you'll do:

As the Town Planner you will play an important role in helping Mobile Phone Operator clients to improve connectivity and performance of their networks by obtaining planning consents or approvals for new telecom sites and upgrading existing ones.

The key deliverables of this role are as follows:

Submission of full planning applications, GPDO applications and Regulation 5 Notifications
Appeal assessments and submissions
Liaison with colleagues and project management
Pre-application consultation with LPA's and relevant stakeholders
Management of in-flight applications and appeals
Reporting to clients via phone/email/meetings/weekly reports
Liaison with Local Planning Authorities
Providing clients with accurate and relevant planning advice
providing general planning advice to clients and internal teams
Helping to ensure accurate site/planning records and commentary
Providing training to the wider planning team, depending on experience
Contribute to the team in achieving its business objectives
Help to achieve/exceed client milestones/KPIs
Assist in building client relationshipsTown Planner - Who you are:

The ideal Town Planner will have at least 1-3 years of post-graduate Town Planning experience, has a strong understanding of local and national planning policies, codes / acts and polices around planning applications and ideally come from either a Construction, Telecommunications or Transport / Rail background.

Town Planner - Key requirements:

Minimum 1-3 years of post-graduate Town Planning experience within either the public or private sector
Experience of working in Telecoms / Telecommunications Industry (preferred)
Negotiation experience
Project Management experience
Good IT skills
Good interpersonal skills
Full UK driving licence and flexible to travel if required
Experience of submitting planning applications and related applications / documentation
Excellent understanding of the appeal process, including experience of submitting written representation appeals
Strong understanding of the GPDO throughout the UK, as well as National Policy for Communications
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Able to work in a team and achieve individual targets
Attention to detail and good report writing skills
Ideally qualified - MRTPI or RICS / MRICS What we offer:
