We have an immediate opportunity for a Trainee Water Technician working from a well established site in Magor.

Initially the position is fo a 6 month period but does have opportunity for extension or may become a pemanent role.
You will learn how to manage the waste water used in a manufacturing plant - gathering water samples, carrying out tests in the laboratory to analyse the content and using specialist equipment. You will also then learn how to use chemicals to get the water back to a state that can be then put back into rivers etc.
Apart from the actual testing of water, you will be recording data onto the database and helping to maintain the mechanical and electrical equipment. Duties will extend to clearning/calibration of process instruments and changing of heavy duty pumps and equipment as necessary.
The plant is open 7 days a week and needs operating as such. Therefore, you would be working two weekends in 4 and working 4 days on and 2 days off.
You will learn how to be responsible for operating and monitoring the water treatment process assets associated with the commercial effluent treatment
Ideal experience and attributes will be:
Full clean driving licence
Physically fit to climb ladders, crouch down and bend and walk and stand for peiod of time
Some expeience in Water or keen interest in joining the industry
Some mechanical experience - in maintenance of machinery or repairing, replacing parts.
Able to interpret technical information
Mechanical maintenance experience with pump and rotating machinery. (optional)
Training in Health & Safety

The role offers a basic of £22,000 to £24,000 per annum plus 25 days holiday pro rata, plus up and coming Bank Holidays, overtime, ocontributory pension after 3 months and holiday at 28 days per annum including Bank Holidays.
