FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Location: Peterborough / working from home (able to be in Peterborough when required but at least one day a week anticipated)
Hours / Days: Full time Monday to Friday (Apply online only) hours

Our client is a significant company in the Facilities Management world and are built up of a number of operating companies who are specialists in either their service line and/or geographic location across the UK.
Job Purpose:
The Financial Controller is a critical role operating as head of finance and as part of the Leadership Team. As the Finance Controller you will manage and direct all company finances and will be accountable for delivering robust financial control and reporting facilitating the Board and Management with insight-driven decision making.
We are looking for a finance leader with strong business and financial acumen and demonstrated capabilities to work collaboratively with others, and experience working in a complex and fast paced environment. In addition, this person will be expected to have strong interpersonal and influence skills as they will be expected to both partner with and challenge the business leaders.
You will be the person who understands the importance of and what it takes to deliver accurate and timely information. We are looking for an adaptable Financial Controller, with a strength of presence to lead, engage and inspire a team working remotely across a wide geographic region. You will be comfortable dealing with detail as well as the big picture. You will be commercially aware working across the business to ensure that IT and operating systems work efficiently with the finance systems.
You will be working closely with the Operational teams to not only help drive the performance of the business but to also assist with putting together excellent, contract winning tender costings.
Key Responsibilities:
* You will act as the main point of financial contact, taking responsibility for all finance-related areas, acting as a key member of the Leadership team; providing commercial and financial decision support and challenge and insight into business profitability to drive future performance.
* Supervise, manage, and motivate financial department and staff
* Ensuring processes and controls in place for accurate sales and purchase invoicing
* Robust monthly balance sheet controls and review
* Supervise payroll
* All areas of compliance including VAT and Corporation Tax across the companies
* Cash flow forecasting and daily cash flow management
* Monthly management and Board reporting. Driving down current reporting timelines.
* Developing detailed management information to track performance of business across different products, regions and customer profitability
* Preparation of budgets and monitoring performance against budget
* Work with IT and operations to ensure data feeds into finance systems provide timely and accurate information throughout
* Working with Operations to help cost significant tender opportunities
* Looking for opportunities to continuously help improve the systems and controls across the business
The Individual:
* Must hold an appropriate professional finance qualification for the role (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or be part-qualified and able to demonstrate very significant experience
* Experience of running a multi-location finance team
* Experience in a similar role within the Facilities Management sphere is desirable
* Experience within a business utilising hourly paid operatives is desirable
* High sense of urgency and ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
* Deep commercial knowledge of business principles and practices with an understanding of Finance delivery gained at a Senior Level
* A natural problem-solver who can make critical recommendations at pace, whilst embedding financial principles and controls within a high-pressured role.
* Financially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, and influential leaders.
* Self-driven individuals constantly striving to improve solutions by working collaboratively striving for excellence and innovation in the pursuit of business growth and success.
* English written and verbal skills
* Proficient within MS products
* Superior attention to detail
* Strong Analytical skills; critical thinking skills; problem-solving skills
