Process Automation Engineer

We are looking for someone who will supervise multiple Oral Solid Dose / Parenteral Packaging assets, and a Tablets Formulation facility at our dynamic Macclesfield campus. Youll establish, lead and improve automation and control systems, to satisfy manufacturing and compliance demands throughout UK Operations at Macclesfield.
Longer term, this role offers several different career development routes. With options to continue in technical and project roles, or move into other areas of Operations or the wider business.
Responsibilities:
Sustaining and improving automation and control system performance, influence the business, to enable delivery of manufacturing demands.
Deliver all aspects of automation and control system performance whilst adhering to SHE (Safety, Health and Environment), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) & Financial regulatory, statutory and company standards.
As an Automation Engineer / Process Control Engineer, the responsibilities will include:
• Leading and executing automated equipment validation, including computerised system validation
• Provide experienced support for the delivery of new automated systems into a production environment from development to final production handover
• Project management of small projects including technical and business change management and budgetary control
• Delivering authoritative support to automation system faults and to quality incidents related to automated system functionality
• Ongoing management of compliance and obsolescence (hardware and software)
• Collaboration with global colleagues and equipment suppliers to ensure systems are designed and developed to best meet business process requirements and business standards
• Delivery of automation system coaching to technical and non-technical staff, including Engineering Technicians and Operating Teams
• Delivery of local engineering budget for project and day-to-day activities
• Support for 7-day working through our on-call rota
Essential requirements:
• Underpinning knowledge of GMP factory automation
• Experience of automation and control systems within a packaging and/or process manufacturing environment e.g. PLC, SCADA, Vision Systems, Data Historian, Industrial Networks
• Hold an HND/HNC within a relevant engineering field and relevant work experience in a similar role or regulated industry.
• Experience working with external suppliers e.g. service level agreements, supplier certification, contract management, service negotiation etc.
• Familiar with Lean methodology, you should have the ability to apply lean tools to a service delivery activity
Desirable Requirements:
• Qualified to degree level within a relevant engineering discipline and member of relevant engineering institution with professional qualifications
• Automation/Computerised systems lifecycle management in line with current GAMP standards
• Automation document lifecycle including: URS, FS, SDS, HDS, FAT and SAT documents
• Trouble-shooting and resolution of automation and control system issues
• Knowledge of Siemens S7, TIA Portal, WinCC systems
