Thrive Group are delighted to be working with our client on the outskirts of Trowbridge, who are recruiting for a Butcher. The successful butcher will ideally have skills and experience in all elements of butchery and a willingness to learn new skills. You will be required to carry out cutting, trimming, deboning and portion controlling, also you should expect to do anything related to our pork production process and participate in training in order to carry out duties.

This is full time role working approx. 40 hours over 5 days, although overtime may be necessary. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday (Apply online only).

Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

De-boning using knife or machinery to prepare for trimming
Ensuring health and safety to create a safe working environment for self and colleagues
Training in knife safety to ensure risks of injury
Completing tasks as efficiently as possible in order to reduce waste and downtime and maximise yields and profits
Working as part of a team, being supportive to colleagues and demonstrating a positive attitude and sharing knowledge
Slicing, weighing, packing and pricing products
Work flexibly across multiple roles and areas to ensure deadlines are metPerson Specification:

As well as being able to maintain a high level of concentration, you must also have:

Previous experience in butchery (essential) with attention to detail and accuracy when cutting, boning and preparing meat
The ability to follow instructions and complete set tasks within defined time limits
Knife skills essential
Ability to work to a consistently high standard under pressure.
Be able to operate machinery.
100% commitment to in-house, high quality hygiene and safety programmes. Ideally you will have knowledge on HACCP but not essential as training will be given.
Be energetic, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
Must be punctual, reliable and have good attendance record.
Ideally have own transport for early morning start
Flexibility to work additional hours as required
Own transport is requiredSalary £10.50-£12 per hour depending on experience
