Payment Officer

Pay: £11.86

Length: Temp

Duration: 37 Hours, Monday to Friday

Location: One Angel Square, Northampton

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf North Northamptonshire council for a Payment Officer To provide an effective, customer focused support service for the Payments Team Customers, Providers and Adult Social Care colleagues through effective use of systems and processes to deliver an efficient service.

Be a key contact for colleagues and Customers for queries and manages more complex issues when required. To ensure an integrated approach to Payments services for Financial Operations through assisting with the implementation of new technologies, methodologies and processes that meet the needs of service users, customers, and client organisation.

The roles responsibilities will include.

To open, sort and distribute post.
To record volumes of correspondence received as required.
To scan and index documentation using the document imaging system.
To despatch notices to customers.
To provide clerical support to staff in the Revenue and Benefits teams.
To ensure that payments received are allocated correctly daily.
To ensure that regular and ad hoc reports are dealt with promptly and accurately.
To assist the billing and recovery team to ensure the effective billing and recovery of monies owed to the Council.
To process basic amendments to customer accounts.
To assist the benefits team with basic claim administration and verification.
To ensure, wherever possible, that any potential entitlement / increased entitlement to benefits or supports is identified in respect of any liable customer.
To ensure, wherever possible that cases of hardship are identified and that all potential claims for support or financial assistance have been registered.
To operate office machinery.
To undertake any other duties within the scope and grade of this post.
To ensure compliance with all Council policies with reference to the Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, and Communication policies.
The postholder may from time to time be required to carry out other duties provided they are within the general level of responsibility of the post and within the abilities of the postholder.
