Title: Footway Crossings Technician

Location: Birmingham, B7 5HR

What is the purpose of this role?

To work as part of a team supporting Birmingham City Council's footway crossings service, under the Birmingham Highways Interim Services Contract being delivered by our client. You will be part of the Highways Change Team, reporting to the Highway Standards and Change Manager.

Your responsibilities:

Calculate and prepare cost estimates for footway crossings (dropped kerbs) using Excel spreadsheets and the Confirm system
Prepare draft quotations for customers
Prepare draft orders for sub-contractors
Liaise with colleagues in the office and on site
Liaise with staff on the Council's footway crossings team
Liaise with utility companies to obtain cost estimates for alterations to their apparatus
Ensure that records are kept and updated in an accurate and timely fashion
Work with other members of the team collaboratively to deliver work to programme and to meet client requirements
Monitor and report progress on tasks at weekly meetings or otherwise as required
Ensure performance targets, goals and objectives are achieved
Comply with procedural requirements and guidance
Undertake any other similar tasks as required by the Highway Standards and Change Manager

What are we looking for?

· 5 GCSE's including Maths and English

· Good IT skills

· Experience in using MS Office products especially Excel to a good standard

· Ability to work alone or as part of a team

· Experience in Highway Maintenance would be useful

· Good time management skills with an eye for detail and accuracy and the ability to deliver to targets

· Motivated individual with the ability to learn new skills and adapt to new tasks

· Good communication skills

· Ability to be innovative
