Our client is a Regional award winning main contractor operating in a variety of diverse Construction sectors. Due to a number of key wins across the North West region, we are looking to engage with a Estimator to join our expanding commercial team. This role does not only offer a highly competitive remuneration package. It also offers a structured career progression plan as we are very much an advocate of promoting within our organisation.

Duties

Reviewing drawings, contract documents, design information and other project documentation in order to estimate costs
Identifying gaps in the information to make allowances
Researching, sourcing, negotiating and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
Use of Conquest software to send out enquiries and analyse returns
Review of company project benchmark data and keeping benchmark tracker up to date
Work within the timescales of the tender period Input into the preconstruction programme maintained by the Preconstruction Manager to help manage preconstruction resources and plan tender opportunities
Producing a schedule of contractors proposals / clarifications with input from the supply chain
Assessing the financial, technical, and operational risks of the project
Organising workshops with key supply chain subcontractors to input to tenders as required
Obtain quotes and deal with consultants to input on tenders as required i.e. geotechnical, structural and M&E consultants etc
Inputting into decisions over whether to bid for the project
Organise key gateway meetings such as a tender launch meetings, mid tender meetings and tender adjudication meetings
Producing robust cost plans for projects to engage with clients on negotiated projects
Production of handover documentation to pass on successful tenders seamlessly to project teams
Working closely with key members of the project team (such as the pre-construction manager) and liaising with clients and suppliers
Insurance quotations to be obtained in tender where possible
Work with the Pre-construction manager to ensure tender costs fit within the Pre-construction overheads budget

Required to be successful:

HNC, HND or bachelor degree in an industry-relevant subject, which can include civil, structural or mechanical engineering, quantity surveying and construction management
Experience of working for a Building Contractor
