We have an exciting opportunity for a Cook to join our amazing team.

Location: Great Tower, Cumbria (Live-in accommodation available)

Woking Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £23,090 per annum Band C Level 3

The Cook Role:

This role fuels our adventures! You will be a critical part of making the young people’s experience with Scout Adventures amazing without great food and full stomachs our visitors and our team simply won’t get the best from their time with us. This job is all about making sure our visitors and our team are ready for whatever the day throws at them.

You’ll coordinate all aspects of the kitchen from ordering, compliance with food hygiene standards to staffing and of course getting meals prepared and served.

This role isn’t just about dishing out some meals to children you will be part of a team making a real difference to young peoples lives in great surroundings with a team that thrive on knowing they are making a difference everyday.

Key responsibilities as our Cook:

Preparing and cooking a varied range of nutritious food for guests and staff at mealtimes

Serving the food to an exceptional standard and interacting with the guests and volunteers in an appropriate, knowledgeable and helpful way at all times, in particular with regard to allergens and other dietary requirements

Assisting in the service and clearing of all food, beverages and utensils

Stocking ordering and menu creation

Assisting with routine and deep cleaning of the kitchen, food storage, service and dining areas, including heavy and light equipment and machinery, crockery and cutlery, in accordance with the cleaning schedule 9

Following established kitchen systems and procedures to guarantee an efficient and organised meal service

Assisting with events and functions as required

Receiving deliveries, ensure correct stock rotation ensuring that all perishable and non-perishable commodities are stored under the correct condition

What we are looking for in our Cook:

Experience working in a large professional kitchen environment e.g. schools or mass catering

Proven competence in managing teams in an operational setting

Experience problem solving in a customer service focused environment

Some experience in either an educational, outdoor educational or visitor experience environment

Confident working in a values based working environment

Hold a suitable food hygiene qualification (e.g. Level 2 Food Hygiene)

Training and managing junior kitchen members and volunteers

Confident IT user
