A specialist in design & manufacturing solutions for special purpose machinery and other mechanical design projects, our client creates classic engineering products from customer concepts. Well-established in the engineering industry, notably rail, nuclear and automotive, they continue to develop and produce a range of exciting projects.

Due to increased demand in their services, our client is searching for a quality Mechanical Design Engineer capable of taking on a variety of projects and continuing to learn on the job. The result of recent project acquisition and broadened client base.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to:

Ownership of customer design projects from taking initial concept to manufacturing and development
CAD production and development including large assemblies, detail drawings and expected data management
Design for manufacture using either in house capabilities or liaising with partners for efficient project management
Costing/estimation of projects as well as procurement of parts with external suppliers
Simulation (FEA) of existing and conceptual components or assemblies
Travel to onsite locations/customers within UK and projects abroad
Experiences required:

Minimum 5 years' experience in Engineering Design with preference on classic engineering projects including sheet metal, machined components & basic simulation
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD essential with excellent understanding of large assembly modelling and design for manufacture. Simulation experience highly beneficial. Must be capable of detail drawing
Experience with rail industry, drilling systems and special purpose machinery highly recommended
Electrical & Pneumatic knowledge very beneficial
A genuine passion for engineering and the creation of quality products
UK Driving Licence required for on-site visits and valid passport for any travel purposes.
