Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established multi-disciplined engineering and environmental consultancy with 17 offices throughout the UK, on the appointment of a Principal Planner / Associate Planner to their Leeds office.

The planning team is based in the company's North East office so this is a strategic appointment to expand the teams coverage and client base in Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

Since this is a strategic appointment, there is extensive autonomy with the role and the opportunity to grow the planning service in the already established and staffed Leeds office.

The role offers clear progression to Director level as the team grows and becomes established. The required candidate will be an aspirational Chartered Town Planner with significant private sector experience (likely from a consultancy setting) within the Leeds/Yorkshire region.

A keen interest in business development and management of staff is essential. As a strategic appointment, support will be provided from the Office Partner and other northern Planning Directors as the Firm seeks to establish a planning consultancy offer in the Leeds area. Projects are varied in scale and size and will offer the appointed candidate a really exciting and challenging mix of schemes.

About the Team

The Development Planning Team is responsible for all aspects of town planning advice including preparing development appraisals, development briefs, preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals, review of existing permissions and conditions, planning strategies and studies, policy review and preparation, planning due diligence, provision of expert witness services, development plan monitoring and representation, formulation of planning policy, and public consultation. The Development Planning Team advises developers, landowners, business operators and public sector bodies on the statutory planning system.
