Elevation Skilled Shop Floor is a specialist division of Elevation Recruitment Group, focusing on manufacturing positions in Yorkshire and the surrounding regions. We are working with market leaders in the supply of rotary tooling solutions for the complete array of aerospace materials.

The role: Finishing / Brazing Operative

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30 - 16:00 (40 hours)
Hourly Rate: £12.00 - £14.00 (dependant on experience)
Overtime available

Finishing / Brazing Operative Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate a variety of equipment within the Brazing cell
* Fixing poly crystalline diamond (PCD) tips to tool bodies / shanks in preparation for final grinding process by using the brazing process (akin to silver solder process)
* Use of Shot Blast machine to clean tool bodies
* Preparation of the PCD tip prior to the brazing operation
* Cleaning tools after the brazing operation
* Verify components for accuracy and conformance to specification. Testing of the tip adherence to body as required
* Maintain components within specification by observing, checking, and troubleshooting the processes, adjusting process whilst adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
* Report any deviations from specification to Production Manager or a member of the Quality team. Record all scrap / non-conforming components
* Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance routines / requirements as determined by the machine manufacturer and, or Maintenance and Facilities Manager. Report all other machine defects / maintenance issues to Maintenance Department
* Housekeeping - daily / regular cleaning of work equipment and work area, ensuring all equipment is available to operators at all times and brazing residues etc. is regularly disposed of ensuring that the area is a safe working environment, and that high levels of cleanliness and orderliness are sustained. This is essential to ensure a quality product
* Provide training and support in machine / process use and product knowledge for colleagues
* Ensure excellent teamwork between colleagues and communicate any actions, problems, irregularities, opportunities for improvement and continuing needs to Production or Quality Manager
* To identify and suggest continuous improvements in the immediate working environment to the Production Manager. Adopt and encourage an environment for continuous improvement in all aspects of the business, ensure costs, processes and skills are subject to rigorous and continual review
* To follow/adhere to H&S and Environmental legislation and adhere to company rules, regulations & standards at all times. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Finishing / Brazing Operative Skills & Experience:
* Communication skills
* Working to tight tolerances and working under pressure
* Produce quality products, adheres to quality procedures
* Customer focused
* Experience of working in an assembly or manufacturing environment
* Dexterity - handling small parts
* Attention to detail - takes pride in work to produce a quality part
* Cutting tool manufacturing experience (desirable)
* Understanding of tooling application (desirable)
