Our client is a well-established SME which has seen rapid growth over the last three years and is now seeking a Financial Controller / Management Accountant / Finance Manager to support the Group Finance Director in managing a small team producing high quality, reliable management accounts and information. This is a full time role and our client is happy to consider flexible hybrid home and office working.

The Role

This role will report into the Finance Director and Managing Director and is a key appointment. Applicants will have experience and knowledge in a similar role. Xero is the accounting software in use. The role is located in Merthyr with free on-site parking, near to the A470 and Pentrebach railway station.

Role Description

* Preparation of monthly Management Accounts and MI, including cost and overhead analysis.

* Review of Cash flow forecasting.

* Balance sheet reconciliation and control.

* Financial Accounting (including prepayments, accruals etc.)

* Management of Invoice Factoring including monthly reconciliations.

* Prepare, review and submission of VAT Returns and provide information on payroll/tax returns (i.e. P11D) to external advisors.

* Maintain and review ledgers for accuracy.

* Ensure Payroll/PAYE payments are made on time are HMRC compliant.

* Oversee and review Bank/Credit Card Reconciliations.

* Provision of information for, and liaise closely with external auditors.

* Provide cover for other team members and ad-hoc tasks as required.

* Manage a small team.

* Attend management meetings and present management information.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

* Qualified Accountant or finalist ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc

* Experience of controlling a multi-company Group. (preferred)

* Accuracy and attention to detail

* Excellent Excel skills

* Experience of Xero or other accounting software

* Good written and oral communication skills

* Ability to work independently and in a team

* Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines

* Resilience and able to rise to a challenge

* Develop strong working relationships with senior colleagues

* Experience or knowledge of invoice factoring (preferred)
