Performance and Optimisation Analyst – Transport & Distribution

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am– 5:00pm

£50’000 + Company Car

Location: North London – Hybrid

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Performance and Optimisation Analyst to join our Transport Department. Reporting into the Area General Manager, you will be responsible for the performance and Optimisation of our distribution operation. The role is very data driven, so you will need to have a flair for analytics, combined with the confidence to deliver and report findings to our stake holders. You will have the ability to influence change and will work closely with other areas of the business on projects which will lead to increased performance and probability of the transport department. This is a brand-new role within the business to make your own.

What will I be doing?

As the Performance and Optimisation Manager, you will manage the driver database ensuring all driver details, contact information and MPQC information is kept up to date.

Create and manage scheduled VOR calendar for all vehicles. Identify trends and address with franchisee hauliers.

Ensure truck utilization records are kept up to date, including number of loads multiplied by average radial mileage and total earnings by truck, analyse date to highlight and identify and act on trends.

Maintain daily records for all trucks VOR, breakdowns, late arrivals at plant, refusal to do loads (Including weekends), concrete spillages, breakdowns. Act on the data and where problems or improvements are required take this action.

Engage and negotiate contracts with new and existing hauliers.

Provide a single point of contact within the area for all hauliers.

Resolve daily haulage issues accordingly.

Liaise with shipping teams to agree and challenge truck transfer and hire requirements, with a view of increasing customer satisfaction, increasing loads per franchisee trucks, reducing hired vehicles, and there for reducing haulage costs.

Record and report on truck transfer trends which could lead to....

Propose and implement fleet profile changes.

Maintain hire truck cost sheet and ensure relevant orders are raised in the reporting month.

Provide H+S communications such as TBT and cascades face to face and via other forms of media with the franchisee hauliers.

Chair regular area haulage meetings

New driver induction and sign off.

Conduct and follow up regular vehicle inspections and haulier audits and follow up on any high potential issues.

Report monthly on trends as per the agreed KPIs.

Approve sundry payments.

Regular forecasts on monthly haulage costs and other agreed KPIs

Experience Required:

Our performance and optimization analyst will:

Have a flair for data and analytics combined with the ability to implement change through stage holder management.

Ideal candidate will be able to provide examples of excellent Transport and Distribution experience.

Extensive experience within the remit of Hauliers.

Minimum of 3+ years people management experience.

Dealing with Hauliers and wider Transport Logistics knowledge within the industry.

Experience with Transport planning tools as best practise.
