Job Title: Senior Planner | Principal Planner

Location: London

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a professional and ambitious town planning consultancy operating from London, working predominantly throughout the south-west and midlands regions. They work with a wide variety of clients on exciting development projects, ranging from major housing and commercial development to smaller-scale private projects.

You will be part of a professional, successful and customer orientated team providing clients with high quality, customer focussed, timely and outcome-based planning services. They can offer flexible working arrangements and competitive rates of pay.

Duties:

Using your extensive planning knowledge and skills to deliver the best and most positive outcomes for our clients.
Handling a caseload of your own projects and liaising directly with clients, project teams and local authorities.
Providing robust planning strategy and advice and preparing planning reports and recommendations to achieve the desired outcomes.
Managing planning projects from their initial conception through to the construction phase.
Be an excellent communicator with strong written report writing, and verbal communication to clients.
Contributing to service improvements to achieve effectiveness.
Providing support and guidance to peers and more junior staff to distribute knowledge and ensure contemporary planning issues and legislation are cascaded and understood.
Supporting the growth of the team by making a positive contribution to business development, securing repeat work and applying a commercial lens to all work undertaken and behaviours.

Candidate Requirements:

Have a degree in a town planning discipline, a post graduate qualification and will ideally hold chartered membership of the RTPI. As a minimum you should be working towards chartered membership.
Have at least 5 years relevant experience in planning in either local authority or the private sector.
Be able to prioritise and manage workloads whilst working flexibly to meet both the commercial and contractual needs of the business.
Have experience of fronting and managing projects and clients.
Be able to work independently across a wide area of planning sectors, working with landowners, developers, businesses and private homeowners.
Hold a demonstrable level of planning knowledge and understanding and application of current and emerging planning legislation.
Be ambitious and enthusiastic to enhance the reputation of the planning service for innovation, quality and timeliness of delivery.
