Leonardo UK is pushing the technical boundaries associated with advanced tactical sensing, data fusion, communications, machine learning, defensive aids systems and through life services, which collectively will enable Tempest to survive and operate in highly contested threat environments. We are working closely with the Ministry of Defence and industry partners to integrate these capabilities within the Tempest combat aircraft and establish the enterprise enabling infrastructure.
This exciting role spans the GCAP Portfolio, covering both advanced technology demonstrations and operational product development. This opportunity will see the successful candidate working closely with Systems and Software Engineers across the UK to develop and integrate complex mission systems, and lead the test and evaluation of these capabilities within a synthetic environment and on airborne trials. GCAP is an international endeavour and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to travel overseas to work with colleagues in Italy and Japan.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to play a fundamental role in a Defence programme of critical National importance, and to shape the future of Combat Air capability in the UK
You will be leading the technical development our digital integration activities for GCAP. As part of this activity you'll be implementing digital versions of our maturing products for this future fighter to help explore the art of the possible, de-risk technologies and discover emergent behaviour.
We are looking for:
Degree qualified in a relevant Science / Technology / Engineering / Maths discipline or similar experience
A good level of Systems Engineering practitioner capability across the entire lifecycle.
Enthusiasm to take on new challenges
A passion for knowledge sharing and developing others
Ability to develop close relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to understand, interpret, and influence current and future user needs and requirements.
Ability to define and develop requirements in an uncertain domain
Ability to research and evaluate potential methods of implementation and create reports to capture the benefits and drawbacks of each option and to create technical documentation of system solution.
Effective and flexible communicator, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Familiarity with configuration management tools, defect tracking and peer review
Work experience of performing a system or sub-system test as part of the verification and validation activities at a test bench or at platform level
Strategic and technical leadership to support delivery of testing
Analysis and definition of effective test strategy within Waterfall / Agile methodologies
Experience with synthetic environments in support of automated test
Development of automated scripts (e.g. Matlab) and functions to support testing and evaluation, stimulus files generation and automated test output analysis.Primary Location:
