Raytheon UK's Weapons and Sensors business provides world-leading technology to the UK Ministry of Defence and Royal Armed Forces. As one of our largest operating areas, the work of their Commodity teams within the wider Supply Chain operation is particularly critical to our on-going commercial success.
In support of on-going business need, we are seeking to hire a talented purchasing professional with specialist knowledge of soft / consumable commodities to join our team in Glenrothes on a hybrid basis (two days onsite per week).
What will I be doing?
As a Senior / Principal Commodity Management and Sourcing Specialist, you will support existing commodity strategies (covering Risk & Opportunities, Make v Buy, RoI, SLA / contracts / agreements) across the full lifecycle of products and programmes, in addition to developing novel commodity/sourcing strategies and turning them into operational reality.
You will engage with stakeholder and business functional leads in relation to commodity requirements, acting as a trusted partner and relationship manager; resolving risks and challenges within the supply chain and safeguarding continuity of supply of materials and services into the company.
You will participate and/or lead in supplier assessments (eg: management of tenders/RFQ activity; performing or supporting cost and price analysis; helping to develop negotiation strategies) and supplier development activity. This will include the administration of appropriate due diligence activity, NDA coverage and export/import/licence requirements, in addition to managing and monitoring the supply chain in support of our drive for continuous improvement, business growth, efficiency, profitability and intercompany relationship development.
The last key element of your remit will be to continually assess and promote sustainable and responsible procurement (including social, cultural and diversity values across the organisation and throughout the supply chain).
What qualifications, experience and aptitudes will I need?
Significant experience in Subcontract Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Commodity Management or related field (ideally working on complex programmes including international suppliers)
Specialist knowledge in procuring Softs / Consumables (any additional experience in Mechanical, OEM, PCB/PCA, Electronics, Interconnects and/or Magnetics commodity groups would be advantageous)
Experience of ERP, MRP, MPS, SAP, purchase order placement, material receipt and invoicing processes
Strategic thinker - able to see the bigger picture, leverage opportunities and synergies across the business, and deal with escalations and other complex matters
Experience of running supplier competitions (RFQ Process)
A relevant professional accreditation (MCIPS Level 5, 6 or 7) or degree (BA / MBA / B.Eng / M.Eng / MSc) would be advantageous - willingness to work toward professional accreditation would be satisfactory
