This new purpose-built school, which will offer a wide-ranging of specialist facilities for their young people, is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1 and 2), to join the team.You must be enthusiastic, with an understanding of, and commitment to, children with complex behavioural, social and emotional difficulties. You will work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. The person in the post may also be required to carry out such other duties as may be necessary from time to time.
SALARY ETC:
* £22,778 - £23,620
* Hours of work 8:00am / 8.30am to 4:00pm, although you will often finish at 3:30pm

* 8 pupils to a calls, with 1 teacher and 2 TAs, with 1-day a week on an out of class educational experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
* At least NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience.
* Training in the relevant learning strategies e.g. literacy.
* First aid training/training as appropriate.
* Awareness of Child Protection procedures, Health & Safety regulations and other relevant policies.
* Knowledge of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies.
* Sound understanding of child development and learning and National Curriculum requirements
* Working with or caring for children and/or young people of relevant age
* Teaching Assistant experience, who has an energy and passion for working with children with complex needs.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
* Carrying out the core duties of Teaching Assistant Special Schools level 1
* Supervising and providing particular support for pupils with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
* Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self esteem and independence.
* Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
* Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
* Assisting with the planning of learning activities.
* Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed.
* Providing detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
* Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
* Undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses.
* Undertaking programmes linked to local and national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy, recording achievement and progress and feeding back to the teacher.
* Supporting the use of ICT in learning activities and developing pupils’ competence and independence in its use
* Participating in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
