Verus Recruitment Partners are pleased to be supporting a South Yorkshire-based leading international aerospace & automotive manufacturer in the Recruitment of a Senior manufacturing engineer on a full-time, permanent basis due to continued growth and projects.

As my client’s Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you would be joining a fast-paced and forward-thinking company with innovation at the forefront of everything they do. You would be joining a multi-skilled engineering team and can lead complex and high-value projects utilising your skillset and experience to improve methods of manufacturing. You would also be called upon to provide essential technical advice to resolve production and quality issues with speed to ensure our clients continue to offer a market-leading service to their customers.   

Duties and Responsibilities

To lead and manage the delivery of CI, cost reduction and margin improvement projects.
To manage and deliver NPI/industrialization projects into production - On time, to budget and required quality.
Define the method of manufacture for parts and assemblies. Lead the development, implementation, validation and continuously improve the method of manufacture to meet safety, quality, cost, and lead time requirements.
Manage the engineering change process. Ensure assessment of change, review, communication, implementation, and release is managed in accordance with company procedures.
To lead development and in-load of new tools and fixtures. Create tool specifications, supplier selection, conduct design reviews, track development progress, perform production trials and implement into production.
Manage the capital investment (CAPEX) process through identification, creating a business case, justification and return of investment (ROI) for introducing new equipment, machines and systems into the business.
Create and amend controlled documentation and ERP systems (BOM, part routings, SOP).
Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the capability of manufacturing methods.
Utilise industry tools and frameworks to assess process capability/quality issues and deploy corrective actions.
To actively work with the operations, quality, commercial and planning teams to deliver customer requests.
To identify and assess new technologies that can be applied to give the business a competitive advantage.
To conduct health and safety risk assessments and accident investigations promptly where engineering input is required, acting where appropriate to address any areas of concern.  About you:  

You will have a minimum of 7 year’s experience in an aero-structure industry and or metallic detail manufacturing and final assembly.
You will be a Subject matter expert in any of the following areas:  
General assembly and fabrication
Sheet metal forming
3 & 5 axis machining
heat treatment
Grinding
Welding
Laser drilling & cutting
EDM
You will be educated to HND level in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
Have a proven track record of managing and delivering high-complexity projects within tight deadlines.
Experience in tooling and fixturing development, machine/equipment commissioning and CAPEX.
Have working experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and statistical quality tools.
Have a strong understanding of engineering drawing and GD&T.
Be confident presenting KPIs to customers and capable of working at all levels across the site, shopfloor to general manager. What would make you stand out? (Desirable)

Having a professional qualification/university degree i.e., bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering/aerospace/automotive.
Having experience in aerospace manufacturing, FAIR, PPAP and AS9100. What’s in it for you?
