A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Service Controller to join a successful business-to-business asset hire and funding group of companies. Their service solutions are represented across the group businesses with different specialisms including Truck and Trailer, Bus and Coach, Material Handling, Municipal Vehicles and the global supply of Modular Temperature Control Solutions.
The Service Controller will be responsible for organising a team of highly skilled Bus and Coach engineers, ensuring daily optimisation by allocation of breakdown attendance.
The job holder will be responsible for providing administrative support for all functions of the Service Department, including carrying out general service and maintenance control duties, including processing paperwork and updating computer records related to repairs, servicing and parts purchasing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Service Controllers set financial and time limits on repairers and parts suppliers based on manufacturers' standard times, expert advice and their own experience. Optimum cost control is a key feature of the job, and this may require alternative repair solutions and parts sourcing.
Monitor all work in progress and outstanding breakdowns ensuring that vehicles proceed through workshops without delay and ensuring the customer is updated on the progress and completion of the vehicle whilst in workshops.
Liaise with operational staff and Service Controllers to ensure work is carried out in order of priority and targets relating to completion times are achieved.
Liaise with the Parts and Service Controller and assist with parts procurement and delivery.
The job holder must use their judgement to ensure that whatever the outcome vehicles are safe and legal before being released from workshops, and that both customer inconvenience and asset downtime is minimised.
Ensure each repair/service/parts purchase is entered onto the computer using appropriate component codes. Items which need repair due to driver misuse or damage are denoted accordingly.
Promptly process supplier invoices, checking attached documentation (e.g. inspection reports) for accuracy and outstanding items, checking for accuracy against order, and querying where appropriate.
Flexible to help with other areas including the organisation and control of the stores area, assist with training, providing support to sales staff, or other special projects.
Our ideal candidate
Previous experience in a customer service or scheduling environment
Knowledge of Bus and Coach or Commercial Vehicles is advantageous but not essential
Proficient in the use of Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
Numerate to the extent of calculating costs quickly and accurately
Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Well organised and self-motivated to provide excellent customer service
Benefits
Basic salary of £29,000 to £32,500 per annum depending upon experience.
