Are you passionate about sustainability? Are you an expert in Active Travel and Transport Planning in either the Public or Private sectors, looking for an impactful role?

We're looking for a Principal Sustainable Transport Consultant. This could be someone with a background in either the public or the private sector - the common denominator is a passion for sustainability and transport decarbonisation!

As an integral member of the senior team, you will be in charge of leading a team of 3-7 in the creation and execution of sustainable transportation strategies, collaborating with customers, stakeholders, and communities to build environmentally responsible and efficient transportation solutions. This position necessitates a blend of leadership, technical understanding, project management abilities, and a strong commitment to sustainability. Your contribution to accelerate the delivery of their sustainable transport consultancy work will have a positive influence on many lives, from pioneering active transport policies to revitalising public domains and crafting transport legislation that will make a difference.

Essential Experience and Skills:

A suitable degree in environmental science, transportation planning, urban planning, urban design, project management, or highway design is required (equivalent work experience is acceptable).
Expertise in building strong stakeholder relationships and collaborating effectively.
A strong dedication to completing sustainable transit projects.
Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
A proactive attitude to task prioritisation, meeting deadlines, and excelling with little supervision.
Experience managing and encouraging junior employees is required.
Computer application proficiency, including spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and balance workload across competing priorities.
Desirable Experience and Skills:

Membership of a professional institution (e.g., TTP, MICE or MCIHT) or working towards this prestigious status.
Project management certification (PRINCE2 or APM)
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
Proficiency in public engagement and consultation for transport projects.
Familiarity with traffic order making and legislation.
Comprehensive understanding and experience in the policy and statutory framework governing Healthy Streets, transport planning, and related activities.
Graphic design skills in adobe suite
A track record of successful involvement in active travel projects.
