Class 1 Shunter

Location: Leicester

Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team in Leicester (LE5 1TZ).  This is onsite shunting using a TUG comuting between 2 warehouses, therefore the successful applicant must have a LGV/HGV Class 1 licence as will be going on the highway for short distances.

What You Really Need To Know:

Working week: Monday to Friday
Salary: £33,096.96 Per Annum
Hours: 14:00 - 22:00
After 48 hours have been completed you will be paid Time and Half.
28 Days holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays
Must be Tug/Terberg trained
This role is operating outside in all weathers
This a physcially dem anding role
HGV Driver/Shunter Duties:

Shunting duties
Closing and Opening Curtains
General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customer’s premises or other MDS locations.
Use of electronic POD and up to date technology (full training provided)
Assisting with loading and unloading
Rachet, strap and corner management. (De-strapping occasional loads)
Working closely with on site customers and FLT drivers
Monitoring and checking supplied trailers for defects before presenting to load
3 Seperate Loading Bays
HGV Driver/Shunter Requirements:

A full UK C+E licence
12 months previous class 1 driving experience
Previous shunting experience (desirable)
No more than 6 points on your licence
No previous disqualifications
Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations
This can be reasonably physical so we ask for this to be considered when  applying.
