Nest Education are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis within a pupil referral unit for a long term maternity cover contract. This PRU based in Preston provides education to children that have been excluded from mainstream schools across KS1 – KS4 and received good in its most recent OFSTED inspection. You will have ideally worked within this environment previously although this is not essential and the school will accept people from a care and support background providing you have the right attitude and temperament to work within a challenging but highly rewarding environment. A teaching assistant qualification would be advantageous although not essential if you have experience working with young people in a support capacity.

In detail you will be responsible for:

• Working on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that the child is achieving their full potential
• Managing the behaviour of the student in line with the schools behaviour policy
• Working closely with the class teacher to ensure learning objectives are met
• Providing emotional support to the student
• Pastoral responsivities to ensure the student is comfortable and feels safe
• Any other duties required by the school.
