Reporting to the Head of Programme, the Audit Officer is responsible for overseeing the compliance of projects within the Great Places Affordable Development programme with internal policies and procedures and Homes England audit requirements. You will play a critical role in providing assurance that all our development projects receiving grant meet Homes England’s contract requirements and funding conditions and our non- grant funded projects meet our own internal compliance requirements. You will be a key contributor to the successful delivery of the performance targets within Great Places.
What you’ll be doing
Developing an effective approach to continual audit assessments and compliance within Development and embed this within the team.
Working within, and both challenging and supporting the Affordable Development team, consortium partners and the wider business to ensure that all our development schemes meet the audit requirements set out by Homes England and our internal procedures.
Directly undertaking a programme of un-announced spot audits on development scheme files including both grant and non-grant funded schemes.
Maintaining and managing the processes for the Compliance and Financial Audits to provide assurance of the compliant delivery of the Homes England Affordable Homes grant programmes.
Leading and managing the procurement and delivery of external auditors for Homes England Compliance and Financial Audits.
Proactively sharing insight on the Capital Funding Guide and other best practice on audit compliance.
Providing regular internal assurance updates to relevant groups including the Executive Directors and Audit and Assurance Committee.
Sharing learning and best practice within the team, our consortium members and the wider sector to drive continual improvement
What you’ll need
Qualified to minimum GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
Experience of working in an audit environment.
Experience of implementing new processes and driving change within a team/s.
Understanding of the business imperative behind accurate Homes England compliance reporting requirements.
Results focused with the ability to take ownership of tasks.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
Ability to work effectively across a range of teams.
