We’re looking for an enthusiastic Purchasing Assistant / Buyer to join our team in Biggleswade. You’ll be joining a manufacturer / supplier of mostly bespoke end-of-line packaging machinery. Ideally with stock management experience and exposure to ERP systems this is a real opportunity to stand out in a small but established team.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Buyer, Purchasing Assistant, Buying Administrator - stock management, purchasing
Reporting to the Purchasing and Finance Manager your role as our Buyer will be to assist with the purchasing of parts, control & management of stock holding & learning a new ERP system. You will be heavily involved in supplier relationships and be working closely with the sales and design teams.
In addition to this you will:
· Work in a small purchasing team looking after circa £3 million of costs per annum – fabricated metal from the UK + parts from Europe mostly, but also Asia and some smaller machines from Taiwan
· Chase up late deliveries
· Champion our new ERP system
· Develop and maintain a robust framework for stock control
· Research and grow our current supplier list
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Buyer, Purchasing Assistant, Buying Administrator - stock management, purchasing
You’ll have a proven track record of working in a purchasing environment. Ideally, you’ll have worked closely with stock management and have some exposure to ERP systems, although we’ll consider a variation of background.
What’s most important to us is:
· You will be able to demonstrate a desire to get the job done and work as part of our small team.
· You’ll have a can-do attitude and take on any task to ensure we reach our objectives.
· You will be keen to improve process and SOP’s as well as SLA’s.
